Strengthening Migration Management Capacities in Support of Government Reform Agenda in Line with CEPA

Project Description
The project will support the ambitious reform agenda of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the Justice sector, aimed at improving the protection of the human rights in the country. In particular, the project will support the Government of Armenia to start off the development of a comprehensive Migration Strategy based on the vision and principles set out in the Concept adopted in May 2021. Additionally, this project is designed as a complementary opportunity for further enhancement of the asylum system in Armenia in accordance with international and regional law and standards.
Project activities are directly focused on the Migration Service and other actors’ capacity development in policy formulation and implementation, advancement of refugee protection system, migration and asylum data management in Armenia.
This project will support the Government’s efforts towards inclusive, accountable and effective service delivery in the field of security, encourage efforts of the Government in implementation of CEPA commitments, promote comprehensive co-operation with the EU on asylum and migration matters and give the opportunity to strengthen relations of the Migration Service with relevant EU institutions (EASO, Frontex, etc) and enhance the use of EU expertise, resources, and good practice in Armenia.
Specific Objective
The action will contribute to the overall objective of ensuring more effective and accountable service delivery that is based on the principles of good governance and respect of rule of law in the areas of Police, Migration and Human Rights.

2. Specific Objective: Enhance migration governance in Armenia to foster well-managed and secure cross-border mobility.
Expected Results
1. Migration management institutions are equipped with relevant guidelines and have the capacity to develop and implement comprehensive, balanced and evidence-based migration and refugee protection policies.
