The European Union and the Republic of Armenia have adopted a new Strategic Agenda for the EU-Armenia Partnership

The European Union and Armenia adopted new Strategic Agenda to deepen partnership, marking a significant step forward in the deepening of political, economic and sectoral cooperation between the two partners. The document was endorsed by the EU-Armenia Partnership Council and replaces the 2017 Partnership Priorities, setting out a more ambitious and comprehensive framework for joint action.

Building on the foundations of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Strategic Agenda charts a shared vision for the coming years and responds to Armenia’s expressed ambition to strengthen ties with the European Union. It reflects the enhanced momentum in bilateral relations and covers a wide range of areas, including democracy and rule of law, justice reform, human rights, socio-economic development, connectivity, energy security, digital transformation, trade diversification, and new cooperation on security and defence.

The EU announced a new European Peace Facility assistance measure for Armenia

The Council adopted an assistance measure worth €20 million under the European Peace Facility.

The objective of the assistance measure is to enhance the logistical capacities of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, with a focus on the protection of civilians in crisis and emergency situations. It will also enhance the resilience of Armenia and accelerate the interoperability of its Armed Forces in case of possible future participation in international military missions and operations, including those deployed by the EU.

The assistance measure will build on and complement the ongoing assistance measure launched in 2024, consisting of a deployable tent camp, and scale it up to brigade-size. The total support for Armenia within this framework raises to €30 million:

CirculUp Project Concluded, Leaving a Lasting Impact on Armenia’s Circular Eco

The CiculUp project has come to an end but it will continue thanks to the achievements of the three years implementation.

SME, Entrepreneurs and NGOs will continue to work in the promotion of circular economy in Armenia. Their innovative products and ideas are the testimony of their entrepreneurship and contribution for a more resilient and circular economy.


EU4Sevan+ Project Launched in Gavar to Strengthen Water Management in Armenia

EU4Sevan+ project was launched in Gavar. The new project, co-funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union, is being implemented by GIZ.

This project builds on the experience of EU4Sevan (implemented from 2020 to 2025) and intends to improve water resource management and wastewater treatment in the lake Sevan and to support Armenia in overcoming the challenges in the water sector.

The EU will continue to protect Lake Sevan, a vital ecological and economic resource for Armenia, serving as a primary source of fresh water, supporting biodiversity, and providing opportunities for fishing, recreation and tourism.


EU LEAD4Lori and Tavush Concluded After Five Years of Driving Rural Development

EU LEAD4Lori and Tavush project came to an end, marking five years of piloting the EU’s LEADER approach in Armenia and demonstrating how local partnerships can drive real change in rural communities.

At the closing event organised on 11 December, government representatives, Local Action Groups (LAGs), implementing partners and the EU Delegation to Armenia came together to reflect on the results achieved and discuss the future of community-led development in Armenia.

Over the past five years, the programme has supported 196 business and 34 community initiatives, created more than 150 new jobs, mobilised thousands of residents, and strengthened the capacity of rural communities across Lori and Tavush, showcasing the transformative potential of the LEADER methodology when municipalities, businesses and civil society work hand in hand.


EU and EIB Advance Investments for Syunik’s Development

4 February, 2026

On 4 February, EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos participated in the review of the European Investment Bank’s public sector projects in Armenia, discussing progress on major investments in transport, water, energy and regional development.

The event also marked the signing of a cooperation memorandum under the Resilient Syunik Framework Loan, providing technical support for water infrastructure projects. The € 50 million multisector loan, part of the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative, supports health, vocational education and water infrastructure, fostering socio-economic development in the region.

EU–Armenia Youth Forum Brought Together Around 70 Young People

12 February, 2026

On 12 February, the EU–Armenia Youth Forum brought together 70 young people from across the country, selected through a competitive process. Organised by the EU Delegation to Armenia and its Youth Advisory Council, in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Armenia, the event created a platform for dialogue and exchange.

EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos highlighted EU youth initiatives and stressed the importance of empowering young people, especially those from less favourable environments. Deputy Minister Artur Martirosyan encouraged participants to stay proactive and engaged in shaping their future.

Young panelists pointed to key challenges, including lack of information, language barriers, and regional mobility gaps. The forum also featured an Erasmus+ information session and concluded with a Europe Day workshop, where participants developed ideas for an EU–Armenia fair stand. The winning concept will be implemented during Europe Days in Armenia.


Construction of the EU TUMO Convergence Centre Began in Armenia

24 February, 2026

On 24 February, construction of the EU TUMO Convergence Centre for Engineering and Applied Science began, marking an important development for Armenia and its residents.

This new hub aims to combine creativity with advanced engineering, offering young people the opportunity to shape their educational journeys through hands-on experiences in laboratories and collaborative workspaces.

The European Union is proud to support this initiative, working with TUMO through funding, partnerships and mentorship programmes that connect Armenia’s young talent with European research and industry experts. These efforts focus on strengthening STEM education, enhancing teacher skills and promoting student exchanges — all essential to transforming Armenian talent into globally competitive products and jobs.

Working together, the EU and Armenia can unlock new opportunities for economic growth, create jobs, raise prosperity and improve lives. This partnership with TUMO and other local initiatives reflects a shared vision for a more prosperous future in Armenia, grounded in education, innovation and sustainable growth.


The EU and Armenia Advance Visa Liberalisation Dialogue and Reform Agenda

18 February, 2026

On 18 February, EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos met with Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan to discuss progress on the visa liberalisation action plan.

The EU reaffirmed its support for Armenia’s reforms in document security, border and migration management, public order and fundamental rights, including through the Resilience and Growth Plan.

The action plan, presented in Yerevan in November 2025, outlines key requirements Armenia must meet to move towards a visa-free regime with the EU.
