EU High Representative Kaja Kallas on a two-day visit to Armenia

On 29 and 30 June 2025, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas paid a visit to Armenia.
On 29 June, the High Representative met with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan. Later the same day, she visited the headquarters of the EU Mission in Armenia, located in Yeghegnadzor.
On 30 June, Kaja Kallas met with representatives of civil society organisations, followed by a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan. After their meeting, the EU High Representative and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a joint press conference.
The day concluded with meetings with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as with Young European Ambassadors, representatives of the Youth Advisory Council initiative, and alumni of the Erasmus+ programme.
EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos leads delegation to Syunik

EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, accompanied by the Ambassadors of Belgium, Cyprus, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Romania, travelled to Syunik region.
Within the framework of the Resilient Syunik Team Europe initiative, on 19 June the delegation visited the community of Tegh to inaugurate two landmark infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening community resilience: the new 80kW/h solar photovoltaic station, and a modern irrigation system.
The Ambassadors also visited the Tev Tevi Inclusive Child Development Center in Shinuhayr, one of the community-based services established under the EU-funded Partnerships for Syunik – Enhanced Community-Based Social Services project. Later, the delegation stopped at the TUMO Kapan Center.
On the second day of the visit, 20 June, EU Ambassadors, together with regional and local authorities of Syunik as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Assembly, reviewed the progress of the Resilient Syunik Team Europe initiative and discussed remaining needs.
The delegation also visited St. Hovhannes Church in Meghri before concluding the day with an informal discussion with young people at LOFT Meghri on EU–Armenia relations.
Masrik-1 Solar Power Plant connected to the grid

With EU support, Armenia’s Masrik-1 Solar Power Plant was connected to the electricity grid in December 2024 and has received its final operating license, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future. Solar energy helps countries diversify their energy sources and reduce dependence on foreign fuels, marking a step toward energy independence. Increasing investments in renewable energy is one of the priorities of the €270 million Resilience and Growth Plan for Armenia proposed by the EU for 2024–2027.
New Craft Studio Opens at Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Arts with EU Support

With EU support, a new craft studio has opened at the Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Arts. The studio combines heritage, creativity, and entrepreneurship through the KATAPULT project, implemented by AGBU and Creative Armenia. This craft studio is more than just a space for handmade goods, it is a symbol of EU–Armenia cultural partnership, where tradition becomes a foundation for new opportunities.
High-Level Workshop on “CEPA: Strengthening the Link between Perspective and Action”

On 4 July, the EU Delegation joined Armenia’s National Assembly and Government for a high-level workshop on “CEPA: Strengthening the Link between Perspective and Action”- a timely and strategic discussion aimed at accelerating reforms under the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos, reaffirmed the role of CEPA as a roadmap for partnership with Armenia, aimed at delivering sustainable reforms for the benefit of citizens and businesses.
Solid Waste Management Program Launched in Kotayk and Gegharkunik

A solid waste management program has been launched in Kotayk and Gegharkunik, thanks to €5.5 million provided by the EU and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P). This initiative will not only improve waste management but also contribute to cleaner air, healthier lives, and a better quality of life. It is an investment in a greener and more sustainable Armenia.
New Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Plant Inaugurated in Noratus

A new decentralised wastewater treatment plant has been launched in the community of Noratus, Gegharkunik Region, a major step in protecting Lake Sevan, Armenia’s largest freshwater resource. The eco-friendly facility, located on the premises of Kindergarten No. 2, will treat wastewater to irrigation standards, helping to reduce pollution and improve community sanitation in a practical and sustainable way. The plant was built under the EU4Sevan – Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan project, co-funded by the European Union and Germany, and implemented by GIZ and UNDP.
