European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos visited Armenia

19–20 September, 2025

On 19 and 20 September, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos visited Armenia. The visit took place at a decisive stage in the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process and provided an opportunity to present the EU’s Cross-Regional Connectivity Agenda as a tangible contribution to regional development.

Commissioner Kos met with President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, and Minister of Interior Arpine Sargsyan.

She participated in the signing ceremony of two programmes with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, visited the implementation site of the “EU for Sevan” (EU4SEVAN) biodiversity programme, and toured the TUMO Centre for Creative Technologies.

The Commissioner also met with civil society organisations, women leaders, and Young European Ambassadors.


EU–Armenia Visa Liberalisation Action Plan handed over to Armenia

5 November, 2025

On 5 November, Johannes Luchner, Deputy Director-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission, officially handed over the EU–Armenia Visa Liberalisation Action Plan to Arpine Sargsyan, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and Armenia’s Senior Official for the Visa Liberalisation Dialogue.

The handover ceremony took place in the presence of Mher Grigoryan, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.

During the press conference that followed the ceremony, the importance of this symbolic and practical step was underscored, highlighting it as significant progress in strengthening cooperation between Armenia and the European Union and in expanding people-to-people ties and exchanges.


Ambassador Maragos paid a two-day visit to Syunik

16–17 October, 2025

EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos paid a two-day visit to the Syunik region on 16–17 October within the framework of the “Resilient Syunik Team Europe” initiative. He was accompanied by the Ambassadors of Czechia, Germany, Latvia, Sweden and Switzerland, the Deputy Heads of Mission of France and the Netherlands, as well as heads of European development agencies and media representatives.

The purpose of the visit was to highlight how the EU and its partners are working together to support local economic development, improve social services, and promote inclusive and sustainable development in the Syunik region.

The “Resilient Syunik Team Europe” initiative is the joint undertaking of the European Union, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the EU Member States—Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden—as well as Switzerland as a partner. The initiative aims to contribute to the sustainable socio-economic development of the Syunik region.

EU Delegation representatives visit Armenia from Brussels

On 30 October, representatives of the EU Delegation visiting from Brussels met with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and sectoral ministries to discuss the EU’s upcoming multi-sector budget support programme, worth EUR 90 million.

The programme aims to advance key reforms and further deepen cooperation between Armenia and the European Union.


EU has announced EUR 5 million investment to strengthen nuclear safety in Armenia

The European Union has announced another EUR 5 million investment to enhance nuclear safety in Armenia. The funding will focus on two priority areas: reinforcing safety measures at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, and supporting the specialist teams of the Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ANRA https://anra.am/ ) and the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Centre (NRSC https://nrsc-am.com/).


EU Ambassadors accredited to Armenia visited Yerevan

10–11 November, 2025

On 10–11 November, the EU Ambassadors accredited to Armenia paid a two-day visit to Yerevan, meeting with representatives of Armenian state institutions, including the Prime Minister, the President and Vice-President of the National Assembly, the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Justice, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary of the Security Council, and the President of the Republic of Armenia.

During the meetings, discussions focused on key areas for strengthening the EU–Armenia partnership, including democratic reforms, rule of law, visa liberalisation, and economic resilience. Special attention was given to advancing regional connectivity and supporting processes aimed at establishing peace and stability.

As part of the programme, the Ambassadors also held exchanges with media experts, discussing Armenia’s information environment and democratic resilience.


Ambassador Maragos attended signing of €100 million finance agreement between EIB and CBA

On 28 October, EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos attended the signing ceremony of a €100 million finance agreement between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA). The agreement aims to expand access to finance for Armenian micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as mid-cap companies.

The new credit line, guaranteed by the European Fund for Sustainable Development Plus (EFSD+), will be provided through local financial institutions with the support of the German-Armenian Fund. It is expected to benefit around 300 enterprises and safeguard approximately 14,000 jobs, with particular emphasis on green investments, women-led businesses, and enterprises operating outside Yerevan.

This initiative builds on the EU and EIB’s long-standing cooperation with the CBA, which has already provided over €220 million to Armenian businesses. It has significantly contributed to the country’s economic resilience and supported Armenia’s development priorities under the EU’s Economic and Investment Plan for the Eastern Partnership.
