Schuman Traineeships at the European Parliament – deadline on 31 October

22/10/2026

The European Parliament has opened the application process for various traineeships within its Secretariat, aiming to contribute to the vocational training of young Europeans and their insight into the work of the EU institutions and the European Parliament.

The Schuman traineeships may be undertaken in a wide variety of fields, such as EU internal and external policies, finance, law, multilingualism, administration, infrastructure and logistics, communication or IT.

The Schuman traineeships are paid and can be undertaken at one of the European Parliament’s official places of work – Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg – or in its Liaison Offices in the Member States.

These traineeships are named after Robert Schuman, one of the main architects of the European integration project, responsible for over 70 years of peace and prosperity in Europe.

The traineeships are awarded for a period of five months.

To be eligible you should be aged 18+; hold a university level diploma(s); have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the EU and a very good knowledge of another official language of the EU; provide a criminal record extract; not have worked for more than two consecutive months within an EU Institution or body; and not have carried out a study visit in the Secretariat of the European Parliament six months prior to the beginning of the traineeship.

A limited number of traineeships will be offered to applicants from outside the European Union.

If you are selected, you will need to apply for any visas, residence permits and work permits required. Any expenses you incur will not be reimbursed.

The deadline is 31 October.
