Rights, Services, and Participation: Fostering a Comprehensive Mental Health Framework in Armenia: Requested information
Նկարագրություն
The Action targets the needs of Armenia in mental health.
Activities are dedicated to improving the existing legislative and policy framework, which does not fully correspond to fundamental human rights and the international agreements ratified by Armenia.
Armenia lacks clinical guidelines and adopted practices in the sphere of mental health. The Action is aimed at making such resources accessible to professionals working in the sphere.
To promote community-based care policy documents related to the deinstitutionalization of persons with psychosocial disabilities, as well as the decentralization of mental health services, will be drafted. Also the capacities of family doctors at primary healthcare facilities will be developed, mobile teams and peer support groups will be introduced in Ararat and Shirak marzes.
The action targets the needs of specific groups, such as mothers-to-be in times of high pregnancy and women with postpartum depression by enhancing the capacity of maternity hospitals to provide mental health care. To improve early detection of mental health issues and timely intervention school psychologists will be trained to recognize common conditions among school-age children and respond properly.
Finally, the Action directly targets stigmatization concerning mental health issues and contributes to the enhancing the capacity of Armenian civil society organizations.
