ReCharging the Regions
Over the past 12 years, the European Union has provided around €80 million to promote the development of various sectors in Armenia’s regions.
A significant portion of this support has been directed toward programmes implemented in the regions of Lori, Tavush, Shirak and recently Syunik.
In the first part of the “ReCharging the regions” film, we present EU’s LEADER community-led local development methodology piloted in Armenia, which has already delivered visible results in Armenia’s northern regions.
The programme has been implemented in partnership with the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
A TUMO center has opened in Kapan, and the construction work for the International Culinary School in Gyumri will soon begin.
These two initiatives are based on the effective collaboration between the European Union and TUMO.
In the second part of the film “ReCharging the Regions,” we discussed the EU’s support for education and skills development in Armenia and the outcomes of its cooperation with TUMO within this framework.
Innovation and tourism: two things that contribute to the development of the country, when combined.
In the final, third part of the film “ReCharging the Regions,” we presented the “Innovative Tourism and Technology Development for Armenia” programme, implemented in the northern regions of Armenia, which brings together these two sectors.
The Legends Trail
The Legends Trail: A trail created by combining the ancient and modern paths of Armenia’s Syunik Province, connecting people, cultures, communities, and sparking a desire to rediscover Armenia in a new light.
The EU’s support for the maintenance and mapping of this 150-kilometer trail is a way to help people living in the region realise their potential and use it for the development of Armenia and their communities.
