EU-Armenia relations keep deepening ahead of first-ever Summit

EU-Armenia relations continue to deepen at a pivotal moment in the partnership, underscoring the strong and shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation across key strategic priorities. In view of the planned visit by the Commissioner Marta Kos on 19-20 March and in the run-up to the first-ever EU-Armenia Summit, a working visit by top officials from the European Commission took place yesterday, serving to assess progress in the implementation of the new Strategic Agenda for the EU-Armenia Partnership. This Strategic Agenda builds on the foundations of the long-term EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). 

Regional connectivity in transport, energy, and digital links was the key focus of the discussions. Particular attention was given to supporting the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative of the Government of Armenia and delivering it in synergy with the  Cross-Regional Connectivity Agenda. Options for EU support for jointly identified priority projects were outlined, with economic resilience and the creation of new opportunities for trade and mobility highlighted as shared interests.

The final design of the package of reforms and investments under the Resilience and Growth Plan for Armenia was also confirmed with the Government, including its second instalment of €202.5 million, previously announced by Commissioner Marta Kos during her visit in September 2025. 

The European Union’s continuous commitment to supporting democratic resilience was reaffirmed, with a focus on protecting the integrity of the upcoming electoral process.
