Europe Day 2024 celebrations in Armenia

Each year on the 9th of May Europe celebrates the Europe Day, which symbolises peace and unity. Armenia also hosts the Europe Day celebrations, continuing a longstanding tradition of celebrating this significant day. In 2024, celebrations took place from May 10 to June 7 in Yerevan, Lori and Syunik regions, under the “EU stands with Armenia – Stronger together” title. Europe Day celebrations provided an opportunity to learn more about the initiatives of the European Union in Armenia.

EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos and Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, launched the celebration of Europe Day events at the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall by opening of the “Europe is us” photo exhibition to illustrate the impact of EU-funded projects in Armenia.

COAF Smart Center, Lori Region

Info Fair on May 17 at the COAF Smart Center, which enabled guests to get acquainted with the EU-funded projects.

Europe Day celebrations featured an engaging media literacy workshop for Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) students and guests, led by Young European Ambassadors and expert Artur Zakare Harutyunyan.

“EU4REGIONS” panel discussion on the impact of EU’s support to regional development initiatives across Armenia.

Multi-genre concert by Aram MP3, the rock band “Lav Eli,” as well as Hayk Petrosyan, Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Dave Geodakyan, Arman Mnatsakanyan, and Daniel Melkonyan, with “Thank You, Charles” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour.

Impact Hub Goris, Syunik Region

Workshop on progress of Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative and socio-economic development needs, which are still persistent in the region.

An Info Fair through which visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the EU-funded projects and the lasting impact these have had on people.

Resilient Syunik Team Europe initiative is the joint undertaking of the European Union, the European Investment Bank, EU Member states – Austria, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland also joining as an external partner. The initiative aims to contribute to the sustainable socioeconomic development of the Syunik region.

The inauguration of the European Film Festival with the multi-awarded Belgian film OMEN, presented by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2024.
