Empowering Armenian Youth: Launch of “Youth in Action” Project

Aiming to empower the young generation, the “Youth in Action: Youth Empowerment and Leadership Development in Armenia” project was launched on June 12. The EUR 2 mln project is co-funded by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Implemented in cooperation with local partners – World Vision Armenia, Youth Initiatives Center and Media Initiatives Center – during the next 3 years the project will focus on strengthening leadership skills of young people, building capacities of youth workers and youth CSOs and increasing youth media literacy.

Fostering Local Innovation. The official opening of the InnoIjevan center took place

The official opening of the InnoIjevan center – a local business and learning hub – took place on 30 June in the margins of the InnoFest forum on local economic development and public-private partnerships. The first of its kind in the region InnoIjevan center will host under its roof businesses and co-working spaces and 4 learning labs for students of Ijevan Real School.

The InnoIjevan center is established through an EU funded pilot project within the Mayor for Economic Growth regional facility implemented by the Ijevan municipality, Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises and Co-Wo. It aims to develop sustainable entrepreneurship in Ijevan in the domain of tourism, agriculture, and food processing through the establishment of an ecosystem that focuses on education and skills development among youth, SME incubation and acceleration, and private-public partnerships.

Strengthening Human Rights Advocacy: Inauguration of the Regional Subdivision of the Office of the Human Rights Defender

On 4 July, the official inauguration of the Regional Subdivision of the Office of the Human Rights Defender of the RA took place in Vanadzor. The event was organised within the framework of the EU funded “Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia” project, jointly implemented by UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, and OSCE. It is important to recognise that human rights defenders are essential partners to Governments in tackling the enormous challenges we face both nationally and globally. However, they can only play this crucial role if they are afforded the necessary protection and room to do so.

Advancing a Sustainable Future: Launch of CirculUP! Project

The launch event of an EU funded project, CirculUP! was organized on July 13. The project is implemented by Impact Hub and dedicated to driving the transition to a circular economy in Armenia. The objective is to ignite a systemic shift in the Armenian economy and society at large toward circularity. The circular economy is a catalyst for creating new jobs, industries, and opportunities, fuelling economic development while minimizing our ecological footprint. Collaboration must become the cornerstone of progress, as we work together across sectors and disciplines to build a resilient and regenerative future.

Towards Inclusion: Advancing Rights for Persons with Disabilities

On July 19, AGATE and the Coalition for Inclusive Legal Reform organised a conference titled “Two Years after the Adoption of the RA Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.” This event, funded by the European Union under the “Towards Inclusive Armenia” project, aimed to drive the full implementation of the RA Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Ongoing challenges faced by people with disabilities in Armenia, and called for continued solidarity in promoting inclusivity, underlining the importance of embracing diversity and extending support to those with disabilities were highlighted. The EU remains dedicated to this cause.

Advancing Transparency: Launch of E-Platform for Judicial and Legal Reforms


July 21, 2023

July 21 marked a significant milestone with the launch of the e-platform for the Strategy and Action Plan for Judicial and Legal Reforms 2022-2026. This platform, developed through the EU-supported “Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia” initiative and executed by UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, and OSCE, serves as a tool to enhance the monitoring of the Action Plan’s execution in Armenia.
During the launch, Mr. Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Armenia, expressed satisfaction in inaugurating the e-platform. He emphasised that this initiative reinforces the EU’s commitment to promoting the effectiveness and transparency of the justice system.
