Team Europe Story
A coordinated and comprehensive response between the EU and its Member States
Team Europe is a collection of initiatives scaling and focusing joint efforts of the European Union and its 27 Member States, including their implementing agencies and public development banks. Team Europe Initiatives (“TEIs”) focus on identifying critical priorities that constrain development in a given country or region, where a coordinated and coherent effort by “Team Europe” would ensure results with a transformative impact.
A New Approach
The new approach has quickly become the backbone of Global Europe (the main financial tool for EU international cooperation from 2021 to 2027) and its programming. It includes the conception of Team Europe Initiatives, which are the flagships of the Team Europe approach.
Initiatives are open to all participants of Team Europe who are interested in working together on the design, financing and implementation of action to make the best use of European expertise and resources.
TEAM EUROPE IN ARMENIA
The “Resilient Syunik” Team Europe initiative is the joint undertaking of the European Union, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EU Member states – Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland also joining as an external partner. The plan helps the local area develop in a way that stays sustainable and strong for a long time. The initiative is a flexible mechanism, it may be further expanded and is open for member states to join with new initiatives to promote the development of the Syunik region, which is top priority for the EU.
The EU’s strategy for International Cultural Relations in Armenia is built on a multi-faceted approach. Beyond its core mission to promote sustainable development and intercultural dialogue, the strategy prioritises the protection of cultural heritage and the active prevention of trafficking in cultural goods. By fostering the exchange of cultural experiences and providing direct support to artists and organisations, the EU continues to deepen its diplomatic ties with Armenia. This cooperation is currently seeing a significant upward trajectory, boosted by the “Team Europe” approach and Armenia’s deepening integration into the Creative Europe programme. Having already joined the Culture strand and established a dedicated Country Desk, Armenia’s anticipated entry into the Media strand marks a pivotal next step. This expansion will unlock vital collaborative avenues for Armenian creators and organisations to engage more closely with their European counterparts.
These initiatives help to enhance connections between the people of the EU and Armenia.
