Local Empowerment of Actors for Development (LEAD) Project

Project Description
The EU Local Empowerment of Actors for Development in Lori and Tavush regions Project (EULEAD4Lori and Tavush Regions) is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in partnership with UN Food and Agricultural Programme and in close cooperation with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. The project helps the local population in Lori and Tavush: men, youth, elderly and citizen groups, including minorities to play active role in inclusive, resilient and sustainable local development that aims at designing of territorial development models with involvement of citizens in setting development agenda, decision-making and implementation.
Specific Objective
The project helps the local population in Lori and Tavush: men, youth, elderly and citizen groups, including minorities to play active role in inclusive, resilient and sustainable local development that aims at designing of territorial development models with involvement of citizens in setting development agenda, decision-making and implementation. This happens through building trust and self-confidence, developing entrepreneurial attitudes and encouraging a sense of group cohesion within communities and between regions.
Expected Results
the project aims at establishment of 5 LAGs and creation of 5 territorial
strategic development plans. In addition, 1000 local residents will be mobilised and capacitated for actively contributing to their local development, 70 representatives of regional and central government capacitated, and 150 local initiatives funded in the course of the project.
As part of the Post-COVID recovery 160 businesses will be supported, 200 new employment opportunities created, 300 individuals supported, and 3000 local residents will benefit from COVID-recovery measures.
