Empowering communities: 30 years of EU support in Armenia

14/10/2026

For nearly 30 years, the European Union has stood side-by-side with Armenia, investing in sustainable development, innovation, and local communities.

Behind these statistics are real people, inspiring transformations, and stories of resilience. Watch these three short stories below to see how lives and communities are changing across Armenia:

“A Real School” with an Almost Unreal Story: Once an abandoned, dilapidated building, this space has been transformed with EU support into a vibrant educational center. Today, dozens of young people are gaining future-ready skills and helping build a more innovative Ijevan.

Modern Agriculture in Action: With EU support, Artush Khachatryan’s “Sareri Bariq” social enterprise is empowering local farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices, grow high-value crops, and build sustainable livelihoods.

Weaving History with Contemporary Art: Nairi, the founder of the “AHA Collective” gallery, teamed up with internationally acclaimed Armenian diaspora artist Anna Boghiguian and local women carpet weavers. Thanks to EU backing, they created a breathtaking new collection that reinterprets Armenia’s heritage, culture, and identity.
