‘Songs from Ireland’: soundtrack of Ireland’s EU Presidency at the EU Council
To mark the 2026 Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Presidency team has put together a playlist of old favourites and new discoveries which showcase the versatility of Irish music and talent. A selection of songs was handpicked from the Irish music catalogue and carefully curated to celebrate the diversity of the Irish voice and musical expression.
In this playlist, quintessential tracks such as ‘Dreams’ by the Cranberries or ‘Beautiful Day’ by U2 are joined by the new generation of Irish artists with hits from CMAT, F3miii and Florence Road. The selection also includes trending tracks like ‘The Spark’ by Kabin Crew and ‘Too Sweet’ by Hozier that capture the global reach of Irish music.
“From trad tunes such as The Gloaming’s ‘Samhradh Samhradh’ to iconic pop anthems like ‘C’est la Vie’ by B*Witched, this playlist covers a wide range of genres and features some of the biggest names in Irish ceol (music) from across the island,” says a press release by the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
