Protecting nature: A shared journey | Video story

12/10/2026

Nature conservation is never the work of just a single project or initiative. It is a long journey made up of both small and large changes. With the support of the European Union, this work unites people and initiatives around a single goal: to preserve Armenia’s nature and the vital balance upon which all our lives depend. Armenia’s nature is rich and diverse, spanning from lakes and rivers to dense forests and aquatic ecosystems. Safeguarding this environment is crucial for both nature and human well-being. Today, climate change, pollution, and the unsustainable use of natural resources threaten to disrupt this fragile balance. The European Union stands with Armenia, helping the country confront these challenges and secure its natural wealth for generations to come.

Three projects, one vision: to address these environmental priorities, the EU is spearheading three flagship initiatives in Armenia, each targeting a crucial pillar of sustainability: EU4Sevan+ – focused on safeguarding the ecosystem of Lake Sevan – the blue jewel of Armenia. EU4Environment – helps Armenia transition to a green economy. It encourages sustainable business practices, supports circular economy opportunities, improves environmental governance, and protects natural habitats like forests and wetlands. EU4Climate Resilience – aimed at boosting the country’s adaptation capacities, this initiative helps Armenia strengthen its climate policies, advance low-carbon development, and build resilience against climate change impacts.
