Support to Data Protection in Armenia
Project Description
The project is designed to ensure a high level of personal data protection and respect for the right to privacy in the Republic of Armenia. In particular, it aims to assist the Ministry of Justice and the national personal data protection supervisory authority in drafting relevant legal acts required as a result of amendments and supplements to the Personal Data Protection (PDP) Law. The project also supports the development of strategic data protection policy documents and provides advisory assistance through capacity-building activities, including trainings and public awareness initiatives.
Specific Objective
1. To strengthen the capacity of the national data protection supervisory authority and other relevant stakeholders in enforcing personal data protection in Armenia
2. To raise awareness around data protection legislation among policymakers, data subjects, data controllers and data processors and general public.

Expected Results
1. National Strategy on Personal Data Protection for 2026-2028 developed, 3 year Strategic development plan and a comprehensive capacity-building programme for the PDPA designed.
2. Draft legal acts conditioned by the amendments and supplements to the Personal Data Protection (PDP) Law developed and submitted
3. 6-8 one- or two- day training sessions for indicative number of 15-20 participants.
4. A communication and awareness raising action plan for the PDPA is designed and three public awareness raising campaigns are implemented.
5. One study visit for the Ministry of Justice, data protection supervisory authority and other relevant staff (5 participants for 5 days) organised.
