Meaningful access to ‘Senior Centre” for elderly people in Syunik, Armenia

The Action Overall Objective: To contribute to the care and integration of the vulnerable recently displaced population from Nagorno-Karabakh in the communities in Armenia
Specific Objective: To provide meaningful access to specialized care and integration activities for elderly people displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and locals living in the Syunik region in Armenia.
Main activities - 1) Renovation of Senior Center; 2) Provision of equipment and furniture; 3) Weekly activities (cooking, crafting, and social inclusion events)
Final beneficiaries - Men and women aged 68 and older living in Goris, Syunik region.
The action will target 100 displaced and local men and women aged 68 and older living in the Goris enlarged community
The proposed elderly space will be able to function as a platform where elderly can receive the primary health care by a nurse and can be referred to specialized services (i.e. state-run services, CSO-run services, assistive devices, and specialized (mental) health care) when identified as needed. Necessary equipment will be acquired to facilitate the training courses, to equip the workshops and to facilitate the participation of elderly men and women when joining the activities (i.e. wheelchair, seat, walking stick).
Specific Objective
1. Elderly men and women (displaced from NK and locals) have improved access and movement to and within the elderly care center, including to WASH facilities, through partial renovation work.
2. Elderly men and women (displaced from NK and locals) have improved access to elderly care services and integration activities through the provision of recreational activities, employment opportunities, basic medical care and referral pathways to existing state or CSO-run services in target areas.

To realize the objectives, the WINNET Goris Foundation intends to establish a Senior Center in the Goris community. This center aims to foster healthy and dignified aging among the elderly while creating a supportive environment for both displaced and local seniors. Services at the center will encompass entertainment, employment opportunities, as well as social-psychological, medical, and legal counselling for the elderly. The center will employ a social worker and a psychologist who will assess beneficiaries' needs, create individual and group development plans, and provide necessary consultations. Through the center's initiatives, the elderly will experience an enhancement in their quality of life. A new culture will evolve within the community, expanding into other communities. The elderly will experience an increased sense of security, significance, and dignity.
Expected Results
