TEGH, SYUNIK — Davtyan Farms has achieved a major milestone for Armenian agriculture by successfully exporting organic asparagus and fresh apricots to Singapore, a market located over 8,000 kilometers away.

Based in the village of Tegh in southern Armenia, the farm has spent years expanding its organic asparagus production. This global breakthrough was made possible through continuous European Union development support spanning over a decade.

Davtyan Farms’ path to international trade began in 2015 with foundational EU assistance that provided modernised agricultural equipment and specialised export coaching.

The ultimate leap to Southeast Asia occurred this year through the EU-funded “Recovery, Resilience, Development for Syunik” (R2D Syunik) . Operating under the broader Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative, the project sponsored the company’s participation in the prestigious FHA Food & Beverage Expo in Singapore.

The international trade expo allowed the Armenian producer to secure vital commercial connections, resulting in the farm’s first official asparagus shipments to Singapore. Building on this initial success, Davtyan Farms has now expanded its scope by launching trial exports of fresh Armenian apricots to the city-state.

“From Tegh village to Singapore. To the crossroads of global markets,” noted Davit Davtyan, the owner of Davtyan Farms, highlighting the proud trajectory of his local enterprise.

This achievement stands as a concrete example of how targeted EU development initiatives empower regional Armenian producers, helping local goods reach competitive global markets thousands of kilometers from home.
