Armenia: new Local Action Groups established in Lori and Tavush

Five Local Action Groups (LAGs), formed in Lori and Tavush Regions of Armenia, have signed partnership agreements on 10 June. The signing took place on the margins of an international conference in Dilijan on ‘Partnership and Action for Rural Prosperity in Armenia’.
The ‘Tashir+’, ‘Lorva Dzor’, ‘Gandzor’, ‘Aghstevi hovit’, and ‘Tsili Tsov’ LAGs were established within the scope of the EU-funded ‘EULEAD4Lori and Tavush Regions project’ project. This initiative is based on the LEADER methodology.
“LEADER is a methodology for development in partnership, it has proven to be very effective by putting people at the centre of local development, bringing together local authorities, businesses, and civil society to strategize and drive local development,” explained EU Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin. “We are keen to see this collaborative methodology succeeding in Armenia and becoming a useful institutional tool for local development.“
In the near future, the newly-established LAGs will propose development projects that will receive financial support from donor organisations.
