Team Europe in Syunik: Turning investment into opportunity
Over two days in Syunik, the #TeamEurope visit showcased how investments in infrastructure, business, education, social services, culture and environmental sustainability are coming together to create better opportunities and improve quality of life across the region.
On 22 September, Resilient Syunik Team Europe partners visited projects supported by the European Union, France and the Netherlands, including the Spandaryan canal, the historic Tatev Great Hermitage and the Artsvabuyn Elderly House in Artsvanik. The programme highlighted the impact of investments in irrigation, cultural heritage preservation and community-based social care. At TUMO Kapan, partners also met young people and explored Greenopoly, an interactive game promoting environmental awareness and climate action.
The following day, partners met with regional and local authorities to take stock of progress under the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative and discuss priorities for future cooperation. Visits to a local dairy producer in Kapan, a drinking-water project in Lehvaz and Meghri Fruits demonstrated how support is strengthening local businesses, improving essential services, creating jobs and opening new export opportunities.
With €258 million mobilised under Resilient Syunik, Team Europe is supporting the region through investments in infrastructure, business and skills development, education, social services and the responsible management of natural resources.
Across these different areas, the message is clear: by working together and investing in Syunik’s people, communities and economy, Team Europe is contributing to the region’s long-term socio-economic development and resilience.
