Yerevan hosts Armenia-Türkiye Business Conference to strengthen cross-border trade
EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos officially opened the Armenia-Türkiye Business Conference today, welcoming representatives from both neighboring business communities as they gather to discuss regional economic cooperation. Addressing attendees, Ambassador Maragos outlined the European Union’s ongoing engagement in the region, noting the role that cross-border commercial dialogue can play in facilitating direct engagement between private sector actors on both sides.
The two-day conference brings together roughly 200 business leaders representing a wide array of sectors, including information technology, tourism, construction, food manufacturing, and transportation. Throughout the event, attendees are participating in targeted sessions designed to spark innovation, establish commercial partnerships, and identify new supply chain avenues across regional markets.
The initiative is jointly organised by the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (UMBA) and the Eurasia Partnership Foundation Armenia, alongside Türkiye-based partners the Hrant Dink Foundation and the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV).
Funding for the event comes from the broader EU-backed programme, Support to Armenia-Türkiye Normalization: Enhancing Cross-border Linkages. Programme leaders hope the gathering will build lasting momentum for economic cooperation and help lay a practical foundation for broader regional stability.
