Media literacy: EU-supported project conducts trainings for 400 people in Armenian regions

The Media Initiatives Center in Armenia has completed a series of trainings on media literacy in the regions of Armenia with the support of the European Union.
For three weeks, ten journalists and media experts held meetings and seminars in Gegharkunik, Tavush and Syunik regions with the participation of about 400 people: students, journalists, teachers, entrepreneurs and representatives of local authorities.
The experts discussed responsible journalism, explained how the media works, how to check facts and not to judge a story by its headline alone, and how to be critical of manipulative emotional narratives and pictures.
Many of the participants in the programme are willing to share what they have learned by conducting workshops in their communities.
